The Eastern Sierra Foundation, formed to promote higher education in the Eastern Sierra, has announced that the Eastern Sierra Foundation Scholarship is available to any California resident (for at least the past one year) who resides in Inyo County, including Chalfant and Benton residents. Applicants must attend Cerro Coso Community College, the Bishop Campus, as a full-time student (12 or more units on-site at the Bishop Campus for the semester during which the scholarship is awarded). The primary purpose of this scholarship is to encourage potential Inyo County students (including Chalfant and Benton residents) to enroll in and attend classes on-site at the Bishop Campus and work toward an educational goal such as obtaining an Associate’s Degree, Certificate, and/or complete a significant number of general education units for students planning to transfer to a university.
The Scholarship pays for on-site Bishop Campus course enrollment fees (in-state only) for students who do not qualify for the Board of Governor’s Waiver (BOGW) – all applicants are required to apply for the BOGW. The scholarship pays up to a maximum of $300.00 for required text books for on-site Bishop Campus courses each semester for students who do not qualify for Extended Opportunities Programs and Services (EOPS) – all applicants are required to apply for EOPS. Students will be required to pay for any text book costs over the maximum amount. The Scholarship does not pay for other items such as recommended/optional text books, student ID card, pens, notebooks, calculators, or text books for online courses.
The scholarship is only available to students attending the Bishop Campus! The Scholarship DOES NOT pay for enrollment fees for online courses or on-site courses at campuses other than the Bishop Campus. The Scholarship DOES NOT pay for text books for online courses or on-site courses at campuses other than the Bishop Campus. The Scholarship will remain in effect to support 60 students each semester as long as funding is available to support the program and we reserve the right to adjust the number of scholarships awarded each semester.
To remain eligible for renewal each semester, students must be making satisfactory academic progress by completing each semester at full-time status (at least 12 or more units on-site at the Bishop Campus) toward their educational goal up to a maximum of 60 degree applicable units. Online courses and on-site courses at campuses other than the Bishop Campus do not count toward the minimum 12-unit per semester eligibility requirement. Students must have achieved a GPA of at least 2.0 in the previous semester of attendance and be in compliance with all published eligibility requirements. A student who fails to maintain the conditions of continuing eligibility as required above is no longer eligible for the Scholarship! Students must re-apply for the scholarship each semester.
