On September 24th, 2014, the Bishop Chamber of Commerce will co-host a mixer with the Eastern Sierra Foundation. The event will honor local philanthropists and their special contributions to higher education in the Eastern Sierra. All Chamber members and guests are invited to enjoy appetizers, a no-host bar and fantastic company from 5:30-7:30 PM. The mixer will take place in the Community Room at Cerro Coso Community College’s Bishop Campus, located at 4090 West Line Street.
Attendees will have the opportunity to witness the placement of three new tiles on the Pioneer Pathway. With the placement of these commemorative tiles, ESF celebrates the induction of three exceptional new members to the Pathway: Coso Operating Company, Pilsbury, and Carol and Stephen Scott. Visitors to the Bishop Campus of Cerro Coso Community College’s Eastern Sierra College Center (ESCC) may have noticed inlaid tiles lining the walkway to the main campus entrance. This walkway signifies much more than simple décor. These tiles are the Pioneer Pathway: a place of distinctive honor among local donors and supporters of higher education. Each tile denotes a gift of 5,000.00 or more to the Eastern Sierra Foundation, every dollar of which goes directly to our local students pursuing a college education at ESCC. It is because of these exceptional donations that hundreds of local students—past, present, and future— have access and financial support for a college education. As ESF’s President Jeff Griffiths stated, “These are the people and organizations that allow local students to realize their dreams. We simply cannot overstate our gratitude.”
Anyone wishing to make a donation will be able to do so on the evening of the mixer, and should make their check payable to the “Eastern Sierra Foundation”, noting “Scholarships” on the memo line. Checks may also be delivered to any member of the Eastern Sierra Foundation Board, or checks can be delivered c/o Rick Litman, 3792 Ranch Road, Bishop, CA 93514. The Eastern Sierra Foundation and its scholarships are entirely donation-funded and volunteer supported. Every cent donated goes to support scholarships available to any California resident who resides in Inyo County.
